Keeping Pets in Loving Homes Since 2024
The Human-Animal Support Coalition was established in February of 2024 when a diverse group of community members joined together to develop and implement long-term, sustainable safety net programs for pets inspired by the Humane Society of the United States’ Pets for Life Program.
At that time, current U.S. census data and average pet ownership rates estimated that there were over 10,000 pets in Temple, TX and 3,300 pets in Belton, TX all living in poverty. We researched national programs that were working to keep pets in the homes that loved them and took action locally to begin to model these programs.
